The abalone shell suit, made for Quannah Chasinghorse
Anita Vega’s artistic, native hands designed and placed this abalone shell embellishment on a suit for Quannah Chasinghorse, the Hän Gwich'in and Sicangu Oglala Lakota model and land protector whose work has appeared in Vogue and on the Met Gala carpet. Every shell was placed and beaded by hand, bringing a material Pomo people have worn for generations into high fashion.
